Funding

Most of First 5’s funding is invested through grants and contracts to nonprofits, government agencies, preschool and child care providers, and school districts that serve families directly.

Community Impact

First 5 of Santa Barbara County’s mission is to help all children prepare for kindergarten by supporting families to be healthy and strong and by enhancing the availability of high quality childcare and preschool.

Focus Areas

First 5 Santa Barbara County serves as a funder, partner, convener, and advocate in support of children prenatal through age five, while ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent on effective and efficient services which are subject to public review and maximum accountability.
